| Description / diplomas: The Culinary Arts Technology program in the College of Technology offers a wide range of opportunities for students interested in a career in the restaurant industry. The Culinary Arts Technology program provides skill development in all facets of the foodservice industry to include: food preparation, storeroom procedures, dining room & banquet procedures, foodservice management, sanitation, menu design and development, and nutrition. This is a one-year course for a Technical Certificate in Culinary Arts and a two-year course of study to obtain an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Culinary Arts. With a two-year Associate Degree in Applied Science in Restaurant Management students gain valuable skills in the kitchen and comprehensive course work in restaurant operation. For those who are more interested in concentrating on skills to manage kitchen operations students have two different options. The Technical Certificate in Culinary Management for those that have cooking experience, it is a two semesters program of restaurant operations classes and prepares the students for entry-level management positions An Associate Degree in Applied Science in Culinary Management combines the one year of study in Culinary Arts with a second year of courses in restaurant operations and prepares students with little or no experience in the foodservice industry for entry-level management positions within the kitchen.
